7-8 Math & Bible, 6-8 Computers
Technology Coordinator

My Deep Hope is for my students to know their value in God's eyes and never cease to prepare for what He has planned for them both now and in the future.

Years at CWC:  2009 - present (13th year),

Education:  Business Education - HS Teaching Endorsement - Dordt University (2001)

Educational Experience:

When I moved to Washington, I needed a job. Zillah School District hired me to teach middle school (resource room) Special Education four days before the school year started, and I continued in that for 5 years. I then had the opportunity to teach math for 3 years in the same middle school. Both of my positions over those 8 years allowed me to build relationships with students and show God's love in a public school setting. I also think that experience helped me to be able to celebrate all levels of achievement that our students have.

At CWC, I have taught Math, Bible and Computers to grades 6-9. I currently teach 7th and 8th Math and Bible, Middle School Computers, and am the Technology Coordinator for our 1:1 chromebook program.

I am currently participating in the Christian Schools International leadership program ELDI (Emerging Leadership Development Institute) and am in the middle of my Masters in School Leadership through Concordia University.

Family:

I grew up on a MN dairy farm and attended Christian school K-12, and Dordt University.  My husband (Russ) and I lived and taught in the state of Washington for almost 10 years before moving our family to Waupun. Russ is also a teacher at CWC, teaching History and Pro-Tech classes.  We have 3 daughters, all at CWC. When I'm not at school or taking care of household duties, I enjoy boating with the family, reading, and gardening.

Why I love working at CWC:

Since graduation from Dordt, my appreciation for Christian education has only continued to grow. I received a Christian School education starting in Kindergarten and going all the way through college. I never realized the value of this education until I went to work in a more public setting – in fact, a public school. It was in that setting, with so many more worldviews than I had ever imagined, that I realized I had strong beliefs of my own. Those beliefs were based on my knowledge of a Savior who created the world and has a redemption plan for us. It was my family, church, and Christian school that helped nurture my faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ. I’m so glad my parents made the choice, and I’m glad to make the investment for my children as they go through Christian school.  I am privileged to be a part of this continuing service to students and their families.

Favorite Bible Verse:  Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  When life is going well, this verse serves as a reminder to praise God for His providence.  When life is challenging, this verse points us to the one who is in control and has the best plan for our lives.
