My Deep Hope for my Classroom is:
That we will actively seek to discover and understand God's orderly creation, and take dominion over it by explaining that order through mathematics.
I am a proud CWC alum ('88) and graduated from Trinity Christian College in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics.
STARTED AT CWC:
Prior to teaching at the high school level at CWC, I worked in the middle school at Randolph Christian School for seven years and in the middle school at CWC for nine years. I have been a Christian school educator since 1993 and in my current role since 2009.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." (John 6:29)
OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED AT CWC:
I am the JV Boys Soccer Coach, and the Class Advisor (along with Mrs. Ritzema) for the Class of '25.
My wife, Sarah, is a hairdresser who works at Salon Nine:Sixteen. We have 2 children: our son Brian (CWC '09) is the Pastor at Calvin Christian Reformed Church (Le Mars, IA) and is married to Tessa. They have given us two beautiful granddaughters, Lanie and Mia. Our daughter Molly (CWC '14) is teaching 7/8 Language Arts at Byron Center Christian School in Michigan. She is married to Drew Nagelkirk, who is a deputy with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.
In my free time I enjoy reading (J.R.R. Tolkien is my favorite author) and watching movies. I am also a life-long runner with 3 marathons under my belt. My wife and I also enjoy traveling when we have the opportunity.
