B.A. Calvin College 1982; Major: American History; Minor: Physical Education
I accepted a social studies teaching assignment in the fall of 1982. I was a classroom teacher for 27 years primarily in the areas of social studies and physical education. In April 2008, I was hired to be the Administrator of CWC. I am now out of the classroom as a teacher but enjoy many other aspects of our effort in educating students for Christ's service. It is my passion to assist teachers and parents to raise children that desire to glorify God and serve in His world.
A favorite program of mine has been the Washington Classroom activity. In 1999, in an effort to promote interest in American history and government, fellow teacher Scott Van Dyke and I, began the Washington Classroom program for our high school seniors. Though Scott moved on to Kalamazoo, this educational travel program continues to thrive. Each year, seniors have the opportunity to travel to Washington DC to learn more about our nation's history and the functions of American government. I continue to enjoy leading this program with the help of other CWC staff.
I am married and have three children. My wife, Dianne, is in her 33rd year of teaching at CWC. Dianne teaches 2nd grade at CWC. My oldest child, Scott, is teaching at Central Minnesota Christian in Prinsburg, MN in the social studies field. His wife, Taryn, teaches art/music part-time at their school. They have four children, Alysia, Jessa, Kyla, and Jamin. My son, Ben, and his wife, Leah, reside in Waupun. Ben works at the National Bank of Waupun and Leah works in the field of Sonography at SSM Health in Waupun. They have three children, Conner, Haddie, and Mason. Dianne and I also have a daughter, Lexy, who recently married Chandler Medema. Lexy and Chandler reside in Waupun. Chandler is an electrician and Lexy works in business and accounting.
