I graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a B.A. in Elementary Education and minors in math and social studies. I am certified by the state of Wisconsin.
Upon graduating from Calvin College, I taught kindergarten for one year at Racine Christian School. The following year I started teaching first grade here at CWC. I taught at CWC from 1990-1995, teaching first, second, and third grades. After our second child was born, I took time off from teaching to be a full-time stay at home mom. In 2009, I returned to teach 3rd grade at CWC.
I live on our family farm just outside of Waupun and am a mom to 4 children. My oldest 3 have graduated from CWC and are graduates of Dordt University. Matt is a Credit Analyst at Compeer Financial. He and his wife Laura live in Waupun, where she works as a CPA. Jon is an Agricultural Insurance Adjuster. He and his wife Brooke live in Rock Valley, Iowa, where she is an RN. Alyssa was married in July, and she and her husband Brandon also call Waupun their home. She teaches middle school language arts at Randolph Christian. Brandon works at Compeer Financial in Fond du Lac. Jenna, our youngest, is a senior at CWC. I attend Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun. Outside of school I enjoy cooking, baking, scrapbooking, reading, and spending time with family.
Not only do I strive to teach my 3rd graders to use their God-given academic gifts to the best of their ability, I also wish to instill in them, each and every day, a deeper love and understanding of Christ, along with love and respect for each other. I want them to realize that God loves them just as they are and that they are an important part in his great plan right here, right now! Every day in third grade we are reminded of why we are on this Earth...to glorify God and serve in his world!
Our class verse for this year is found in Romans 12:10 - "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." It is my prayer that daily we will discover ways that we can care for those around us by selflessly and joyfully putting the needs of others before our own.
