My deep hope is that we will discover and marvel at the promises of God.
I graduated from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a B.A. in Elementary Education and minors in math and social studies. I hold a Wisconsin teaching certificate.
Upon graduating from Calvin College, I taught kindergarten for one year at Racine Christian School. The following year, I started teaching first grade here at CWC. I taught at CWC from 1990-1995, teaching first, second, and third grades. After our second child was born, I took time off from teaching to be a full-time stay-at-home mom. In 2009, I returned to teach 3rd grade at CWC.
I live on our family farm just outside of Waupun and am a mom to 4 children. Matt (CWC '12) and his wife, Laura, live and work in the Sioux Falls, SD area. Jon (CWC '14), his wife, Brooke and their sweet one-year-old Adalyn live in Rock Valley, Iowa. Alyssa (CWC '16) and her husband, Brandon, live in Waupun. Jenna (CWC '21) is a sophomore at Dordt University. I attend Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun. Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, baking, scrapbooking, reading, and spending time with family.
Not only do I strive to teach my 3rd graders to use their God-given academic gifts to the best of their ability, I also wish to instill in them, each and every day, a deeper love and understanding of Christ, along with love and respect for each other. As a class, we use God's word to discover so many promises that he has given to us, and my prayer is that they will hold tightly to those promises! I want my students to realize that God loves them just as they are and that they are an important part of His story right here, right now! Every day in third grade we are reminded of why we are on this Earth...to glorify God and serve in his world!
"So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God." (Isaiah 41:10)
God is good. Sometimes life is hard. We can cling to his word and his promises and know that whatever life brings, we have the assurance that God is right there with us at all times.
