years at cwc:
2017 to present
B.S./M.S. Electrical Engineering - Yeonsei Univ., South Korea (2004, 2006) / M.S. Leadership and Higher Education - John Brown Univ. (2013)
Following graduate schooling, I worked as a satellite research engineer for three years, for Korea Aerospace Research Institute. After that, I entered a Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering at University of Maryland, but decided after one year to discontinue my Ph.D. pursuit. Currently, after several years off work (in order to focus on caring for our children), I have been teaching computer science (Python, Scratch, Robotics, 3D Printing, GIS) as well as Excel for middle and high school students at CWC, since 2017.
My husband (Andrew) and I met at a mission training center in Siloam Springs, AR. I was on staff there and he came for training, in preparation for further missionary service in Nigeria. After remaining there a few years, we relocated to Friesland (his hometown). We have three kids – Joanna, Simon, and Matthias. We attend First Reformed Church in Friesland. We love biking, camping, swimming, boating, hiking, gardening, bon fires, reading books, and watching movies. We are a trilingual family – English, Korean, and American Sign Language, because I am from South Korea and Matthias is deaf.
why i love working at cwc:
I enjoy working in a Christian environment with co-workers who share my faith and values, and desire to prepare students for faith and living. It has been special to experience the uniqueness of each student, in personality, interests, giftedness, and learning styles. It has also been impressive to see the individualized focus and care staff give to each student.
favorite bible verse:
“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 6:18 Just before I left for America, one of my pastors gave this verse to me and he said, “Wherever you are, remember your relationship with God.”
